An athletic event requires significant resources - more resources than can be covered by a reasonable entry fee. The preliminary budget for the Bear Trax 20K is approximately $5,000. However, the ultimate goal is to raise money beyond the needs of the event which will help fund the programs of the Nancy Sellars Memorial Foundation, U.A.

Why Be a Sponsor?

Certainly, there is always a "feel good" aspect to being a sponsor. It is wonderful when a business can give back to the community. However, we realize that there are many financial demands on businesses; an organization needs more than simply a pat on the back for its contribution. Nancy Sellars was the first of several cyclists who were tragically killed by hit-and-run drivers during the summer of 2008. A well-known and well-loved endurance athlete from the Milwaukee area, media coverage of her and her death continues months after the incident. A simple Google search brings forth hundreds of stories in both the print and broadcast media.

Initial inquiries with local media suggest that the Bear Trax 20K will be another piece of that coverage. Organizers associated with the event, especially significant sponsors, will be a part of that media attention. Each sponsor will be linked with a cause that seeks to bring an end to needless injury and death caused by drunk driving, as well as to promote basic bicycle rider safety.

Sponsorship Levels

Naming Rights: Donor would be cited as the primary sponsor of the event. In all promotions regarding the race the naming sponsor would be cited alongside the race name, for example: The Bear Trax 20K, sponsored by MCG Widgets.
Cost: $2,000

Kilometer Markers: Kilometer sponsors would be featured on large signs marking each kilometer in race (20 total).
Cost: $100 per kilometer.

Other Sponsor Levels: Sponsors at the following levels will be included in race literature, signage and on runner and volunteer shirts. Larger sponsor levels will receive greater prominence.
Levels: Gold: $500, Silver: $300, Bronze: $150
